What a priviledge to be in Battle Creek this past weekend, we were there to watch the Hudson Tiger Wrestling Team at the State Finals. Our 15 yr. old grandson JD Waters, as a freshman had the priviledge to wrestle in 3 matches. The Hudson Team took the State Championship in Division 4 making this their 3 yr. in a row.
We also saw Tecumseh from our county loose in the semifinals by a very small margin, it was hard to watch these young men walk off with disappointment when they have done so well to get as far as they did.
The sportsmanship at this level was outstanding to witness, we did not see tempers flare among the wrestlers, the coaches or the fans! We saw only appreciation for the talent these young men had. We even shared cheering signs with Richmond (Division 2) in the finals sharing cheers and appreciation for each others teams.
This event goes down in my journal as an event that brought joy and pride (see 2 Corninithians 7:4) to my heart. Sitting in the stands with our daughter, son-in-law, grandson and her in-laws along with other fans, I realized we were all family.
We are all God's children no matter who gave birth to us here on earth, trace our lineage back and you will find Jesus there.
Romans 8:16 "The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children." NIV
I count it a priviledge to be amongst the "family of God', be it within my church, community or at a sporting event.
